Description

An extraordinary work of military engineering which, starting from “Bocchetta Campiglia” leads to “Porte del Pasubio” (1935 metres – Achille Papa Refuge) and which allowed the supply for troops perched on Pasubio during the First World War, thanks to an extremely bold path sheltered from enemies.

The 52 galleries historical military route takes almost 2:30/3:30 hours starting from Passo di Xomo or by reaching (from this last) the Bocchetta Campiglia (large paid park, but always crowded in particular on non-working days, placed in Posina Municipality territory).

The difference in altitude is about 750 metres and the path crosses very bold galleries, even with curves and bifurcations. A reliable flashlight is essential.

The excursion is not to be understimated as it is not a touristic walk. Although it does not imply significant difficulties or dangers, you must pay attention, you mustn't lean over the path nor enter secondary galleries which might be dangerous.

The end of the trail is good. However, there are some slippery sections due to constant water dripping, in particular inside the galleries.

It is an extremely satisfying excursion, a historical path that all the excursion and mountain enthusiasts, and, to greater reason, the history lovers should cross.

Once reached Refuge Papa, you can rise to Cima Palon through the historical path and then return to Bocchetta Campiglia o Passo Xomo by crossing the road of Scarubbi, on the north side.
